Art Fairs, Ultimate Fighting and more…

It was a pretty relaxing weekend. I didn’t even get out of town. I stayed in the lovely city of Denver and I went to a couple of the festivals and things that they were having. So I actually went to the Downtown Denver Art Festival, I believe it was called. It was decent. And I also went to a little fair or festival thing in Washington Park, which was also pretty nice. They were all pretty cool — it was fun.

A couple of people came up and asked me about the Broncos, which is always interesting. I get recognized a good amount, which is nice. To be honest, a lot of the recognition is based on my community involvement. A lot of people — especially older people — just say that they appreciate the amount of effort I put into that which is great. Obviously I don’t do the community stuff for the recognition, but it’s nice to know that people appreciate it.

I ordered the Ultimate Fighting thing on Saturday night. It was great — there were a bunch of good fights. I enjoyed them all. I was on all ends of the spectrum that day, going from the art festival to Ultimate Fighting that night. I think I enjoyed the Ultimate Fighting a lot more, but it was all fun. What man doesn’t enjoy to watch a little bit of confrontation?

One other thing from this weekend — Miss Universe. Fortunately, I changed to the channel just in time to see Miss USA. Oh my gosh. I felt so bad for her, but I couldn’t help but laughing. I was rooting for her, then they booed her in Mexico. But I guess she really didn’t deserve to move on since she slipped and busted her butt a couple of minutes before. That was hilarious. She is beautiful, though. If anybody knows her, tell her to give me a call.

I’ve got class tonight, too. The first one went really well. It’s six girls in my group, and I was surprised at how talented they are. We went through some writing exercises and then we all closed it out with a little creative writing. I was reading those all weekend. It was amazing — I was really impressed and inspired. And now I’ve got about five hours to put together a lesson plan for tonight, but I’m looking forward to it. It’s really fun. I think that the young ladies really enjoy it.

I think we’re going to start working on college essays. They’re all in high school now, so we’re going to work on sentence structure, paragraph structure and proper use of commas and punctuation. The first time was fun, kind of. We did metaphors and similes and creative writing — story-type stuff. This time we might try to get a little more serious without getting too serious. So I’m looking forward to that tonight.

Looking forward to Fan Fair this coming weekend, too. That’s always a good time — really a laid-back and fun atmosphere. I think the players enjoy it almost as much as the fans do. It’s a good time. This year College in Colorado is going to have a booth there and on Saturday I’m going to be there for an hour signing autographs. I’ll be there from 2 to 3, in addition to my other two hours for the team.

First I want to saw that I wish I could get your autograph and go to the fan fair but thats the price for an out of stater.

Hope you stay with the Broncos for a long while, you’ll get your starting spot before you know it.

And by the way I hope Miss America calls me first but for me I think its just dreamful thinking.

    D-

Truly enjoy getting an inside glimpse of what you do off the field. I think there is a big misconception that football players are all muscle heads that spend all their time in the gym.

It’s good to see that isn’t the case and actually get examples of how diverse and cultural you guys are….

    Thanks again!
