Another Busy Weekend

June 5th, 2007 - 1:07pm by domonique_foxworth

Busy, busy weekend.

Start with Fan Fair. Fan Fair was great. I got there an hour early to do a signing with College in Colorado, which was a hit. We had a ton of people there, and it was really cool because a lot of the kids were not so much talking about the football but they were talking about school.

We ended up meeting probably hundreds of kids, with paperwork and stuff about college as they were leaving. Whoever was there, we’d tell whoever would listen. They got paperwork and stuff and we linked them up with the web site — CollegeinColorado.org — just in case. I signed non-stop for an hour straight, then as I was leaving I had like a convoy of kids chasing me. I was trying to sign and run at the same time. It was really exciting.

Then I had question and answer with the kids on the field — the little kids. Little kids ask crazy questions. My favorite was, “Do you like pie?”. Absolutely. Apple pie is my favorite. They asked a lot of funny questions and I tried to give them funny answers.

Then I went to the adult Q&A upstairs. Nick and I did that together, and that was a real big hit. Nick and I are actually talking about doing a radio show together, and I guess that was a little taste of it. It was really entertaining and it went well. People had a good time, a lot of laughs. I made fun of Nick most of the time. He took some shots back but mine were better. I won.

After I was done with all that I went downstairs and I did the little Junior Reporter thing for ThunderVision with the little kids asking questions. That was cool, those kids were nice. Then I ended up signing about a hundred more autographs and went on home. It was a good day.

Nothing really happened on Sunday. I slept a lot on Sunday. I was tired from Fan Fair — I was there for about four and a half hours, so it got me.

I did go see my favorite hockey team Sunday night — the Denver Broncos employee hockey team. This was my first game this year, and they did very well against a tough opponent. I was really proud and impressed. Last year I went to about three of them, but fortunately this year they got some more support. They fielded a better team, so they get more support. I think Rod was there, Keith Burns, Brian Clark, Jimmy Spencer and his kids were there. It was great — we had a cheering section. We were yelling and hopefully motivated them a little to do better, and they did great. We’ll leave the score out of this all together. But they’re improved upon last year’s season, and I’m happy to see that because I am the number one fan. I think I might get my chest painted next game.

Nice to see them get out there and get some exercise. I do appreciate the great athletes that I work with a lot more after watching. It’s nice to see that athleticism runs in the veins of the entire organization.

Monday was the Mike Shanahan Golf Tournament. It was great — it’s an all-day affair, big fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club and the Darrent williams Teen Center.

College in Colorado had a company softball game and I went to support them after the golf tournament. They’re really good at their jobs. They’re a lot better at their jobs than they are at softball. They were not as competitive as I would like an organziation that I’m involved with to be. They just didn’t seem to care — they weren’t all that interested in wins and losses. Which, hey, I guess you’re going out there to have a good time.

I’ve got class again tonight with my writing young ladies. Last week we went to the mall. They had to pick a person in the mall and describe them as vividly as possible and then write a backstory just based on seeing them. A little creative writing exercise. So we’re still on creative writing. I actually talked to a high school English teacher, and I think she’s going to come and help us with college essays and all that stuff. I want to do that, but I’ve been reading books and I don’t know how well I can teach myself. I don’t want to leave any ends untied — I want them to do really well.

Tonight, time for class again. We’ll see what we’re going to do.

    Hey Fox,

I had the opportunity to attend the Fan Fair both days and was there at the Q & A session with you and Nick. You guys were a riot! It’s nice to know that you both are just so down to earth. I really hope you do a radio show together. I would definitely tune it. I wanted to ask how can the community get involved with the Darrent Williams Teen Center? I’ve donated and received my bronco plates, but how can I really get hands-on involved?

Thanks for coming out this weekend. It was fun!

….”I believe that children are our future…”

you’re a busy guy foxworth! thanks for doing so much for the community and for the fans – it was great to get your photo and autograph and fan fair. Your Q&A with Nick was priceless!

Hey Dominique. When are you going to tell people you don’t like the nickname “Foxy” as it’s effeminate and that you go by ‘Nique?

  5. foxylady says:

    Foxy,
I personally think Foxy is a great nickname–you’re too manly to be emasculated be even the most effeminate nickname! I think it’s sexy, actually, for a couple of reasons. One, it implies that you’re foxy (which you are.) Furthermore, it implies that you’re “man-enough” to have a name like Foxy—it’s kind of like men who can get away with wearing pink!

Anyway (no s), on to important comments: One, I love how much you contribute to your community. I wish that there were more people in the world like you. I believe that if more people were like you, the world would be a much better place. (cliché, but true!) As I’m not a resident of Denver, I’m jealous that Denver has someone like you not only helping the city to win games on the football field, but more importantly helping them to win larger gains in the community. Two, though I am not a resident of Denver, I do find myself there often. Like onechocolateqt (nice user name, by the way!) I’m interested in making hands on contributions to the teen center. Is there anything I can do? Maybe I can teach a class for students while you’re in camp? As grueling as camp must be, I doubt you’ll be able to teach during that time. (I was an English major in school and now find myself teaching high school English.) So, please let me know how I can help!

Finally, are you doing any meet-and-greets/ autograph sessions over the summer? If you are, can you let me know some dates? I hope that I will be able to attend one so that I can meet the man whom I admire so much!

    Yours truly,
    Foxylady
    (aka your #1 fan)

ps: sorry it’s so long–brevity’s never been a strength of mine!

    Hey Foxy!
I told you I was guna start commenting on your blogs so I’m sure you can guess who this is! Well, I truly look forward to reading these every Tuesday…You are so intelligent and interesting. I love it. There really should be more guys like you on the team. I always wonder if once you NFL players get out of college, how much of your education you continue to use?? Apparently some of you put it to good use more than others. You are a great role model and I hope you continue to do what you do. You’re awesome. But you already know that.
So, I guess I missed out on the entertaining Q&A with you and Nick..Darn! I had tickets to go to the Fan Fair on Sunday buuut I had a long nite Saturday so I didnt make it ;) lol…Besides, I have the best ticket ever when it comes to gettin to know all my favorite players :) haha.. I love my team tho! Can’t wait for the season!!
I’ll be anxiously awaiting next weeks entry…
    TTYL Foxy..

    Always,
    H*~

Does anyone know what happened to Bradley Van Pelt?

hey wats up! i was at the fan fair and i was there when you were doing the Q and A with the kids and you were SO funny!!!one of my favorites was when one of the kids asked you who you favorite quarterback was and you said, “jay cutler, even though he is funny looking!” i also met you at the college in colorado booth, and i think that was very cool that you did that!

  11. The Game Of Golf With The Right Clubs

Generally, a set of clubs off the shelf isn’t likely to be a perfect fit for you. Manufacturers create clubs for folks of average build &#8212 whatever that is! Not only is everyone different in their physical make-up, but no two players swing exactly…
