A Sour Taste

September 15th, 2011 - 10:10am by Willis McGahee

First let me just say the atmosphere at the stadium was crazy Monday night. I’ve never heard a crowd so loud in my life, and I’ve played in a lot of stadiums. It shows how much the people are behind the Broncos out here.

I enjoyed the pregame a lot. It was a great tribute to all the people who lost their lives in 9/11, and it was great that the whole NFL participated.

As far as the game, we basically hurt ourselves with all the penalties, and the offense not starting fast to help the defense out when they were playing good in the first half. We can’t do stuff like that. We’ve got to get it from the beginning and go from there.

I do think the team came together very well. We didn’t back down or give up on each other. When we were down 16-3, we stayed in it and we fought. That’s a good thing about our team — we didn’t give up.

Looking at next week, right now basically we have a sour taste in our mouths, and we’re trying to put something sweet in our mouths right now. The thing about it is we’ve got to be mentally prepared for this team, because they’re going to try and come in and do the same thing Oakland did against us. We can’t let that happen.

The Bengals get paid just like us. They’re there to make plays. They’re in the NFL for a reason. Those guys are going to try to mess up every play that we put out there, but our job is to not let them do that.

Nobody is happy about starting the season with that loss. But we’re going to be OK. I’m not worried about it. First game of the season, everybody likes to have that win in their first game, but unfortunately things didn’t go our way. The good thing about it is we’ve got 15 more games.

Catch up with you next week.

it ain’t even about Tebow or Orton anymore.

I bet the majority of fans would rather see Weber play than Orton. Quinn, Tebow … sure.

Get Garrard, fine. I mean, maybe we can lure Plummer away from Pro-handball. Maybe we can get Elway to suit up again.

Heck, I would rather see Clady get his turn at QB than watch Orton start one more game.

that is hardcore shaztah, 5.5 hours in slow motion. I couldn’t do it. I would have had a brain aneurism

  3. strandoftds says:

Shaztah, good insite. Your handle should have been Sherlock Holmes. Cool stuff man.

  4. alexanserg says:

@eternalorangeandblue: He already told the public that he doesn’t care about the fans. And anyone watching the games knows he has already laid down.

    What’s your point?

  5. armadillo_orton says:

    help

  6. killerkod says:

lol….I was just thinking that I haven’t seen anything from armadillo………..and bang, there you are!

  7. alexanserg says:

“Thank God the people don’t make the decisions (on who’s starting),” Orton said. “My LAST goal is to win over the fans.” (emphasis added)

I thought Kyle Orton said last monday was the first time he ever dropped the ball like that. Maybe the raiders are bribing him to throw games.

Next year there will be 3 QB’s drafted in the early 1st round (Luck, Barkley, & Jones). We have to find out now what Tebow has in the tank. What is there is a game changing lineman on the board. Do we draft the QB or take the game changing lineman? The only way we can make the right answer is to see how Tebow plays right now. We all know that the only way to truly evualate a QB is under live fire. So we have to play him in order to make an informed proper decision. There is no other way around it. If we don’t play Tebow the question remains unanswered and under debate. What is Fox doesn’t play Tebow, and decides to pass on Barkley because he believes in an unproven Tebow. Barkley turns out to be amazing, and Tebow fails. Then Fox would have made a huge mistake. And conversely, we cut Tebow loose draft a number 1 qb and pass on a potential N. SUH lineman prospect. Do you guys understand why we must find out NOW about Tebow’s future. Next years draft will be huge and in order to properly draft for the future YOU must find out the qb situation. Leaving Orton as starter does not answer any questions, nor does it provide any LONG TERM solutions. It creates more questions and no answers. This so clear, I’m amazed by how many people can’t seem to understand this.

sunday better be a different story. Lets go denver!!!

  11. armadillo_orton says:

Hey is there any N. Suh like prospects in next years draft???? I want one of those for Christmas.

  12. sndvl says:

    To Mr. Kyle Orton,

I heard you don’t care what the fans think (paraphrasing of course). I imagine that statement was made due to the fact that you are constantly hearing Tim Tebows name brought up. I’m sure you are aware that the majority of the fans want him to start rather than you (probably around 80-90%).
They say you choke in the clutch, have no fire or passion, are immobile and don’t care about the fans.
Well, Mr. Orton, after looking over the injury report I have to say- you need to put this team on your shoulders and be the leader. Be the proverbial field general. Lead this team to victory.
I’ve always been an fan and avid supporter of you. In the face of the TebowHype Machine. Did you see they are raising 10,000 to buy ad space on billboards in support of their choice for QB? Yeah! Ten thousand dollars. Well, here is my billboard and it only cost me about 5 minutes of my time.
So, Mr. Orton, prove to them, nay, prove to Broncos Country, that you are in fact capable of everything they say you’re not. (And make the billboards a foolish exercise in futility and poor financial management)!!!

    GO BRONCOS in 2011!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, forgot this was a McGahee blog! Still glad you’re here. No let’s get that sour taste out of your mouth with your first carry!

    Broncos 27
    Bengals 14

  13. armadillo_orton says:

I also want a John Connor like fullback for christmas, and SANTA can you throw in a clone of AL Wilson.

  14. sndvl says:

    Forgot to sign off as

sndvl, also referred to as your sister, Mr. Orton!

  15. strandoftds says:

Sorry about that Shaztah. I didn`t know. Good stuff anyway.

  16. armadillo_orton says:

And Santa, one more wish!! A real O/C that is not afraid of a qb rollout pass play.

  17. alexanserg says:

Mah bad, that clip was from last Monday’s game.

I can’t even find a good clip cause no one seems to care about kyle “deer-in-headlights” orton. So… nevermind

  18. baylinorcrush says:

armadillo, I’ll repeat once more, it’s because you were not on this website in the off season, dozens of us have said that over and over and over, that starting Tebow now is the only way to go into next year’s draft prepared, I led that train of thought for months and many others participated, just saying, don’t think you re-invented the world here, post your opinions but no need to make us all sound like fools for not agreeing with you, most of us do, been there done that and you were not in existance yet. Got It?

  19. alexanserg says:

Sndvl: If I were you, I wouldn’t hold my breath for a response from ‘the great’ KO.

They say KO chokes in the clutch, has no fire or passion, is immobile and doesn’t care about the fans.

    They are correct.

  20. strandoftds says:

I was loud and clear the whole offseason and preseason, Tebow or bust. I never strayed off of the Tebow path and brother BFE was and is adamant as well and some others. Just saying.

  21. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Sndvl …. only one problem with that post … Orton doesn’t care about fans … yourself included … he is just here to do the job he is paid to do. And he cannot all of a sudden be someone different after 7 years of being the same Orton. TRB

  22. alexanserg says:

    New blog

  23. baylinorcrush says:

    Boredom Orton.

  24. bronco-blaze says:

NFL.com reports bronco fans are close to putting up two billboards to start orton. Awesome. hahaha.

  25. shaztah says:

On a lighter note at least Tebow is no longer being called “YOU KNOW WHO” LOL

  26. shaztah says:

Imagine the stadium chanting “YOU KNOW WHO” YOU KNOW WHO” and its not Voldemort

  27. Owa_owa says:

Orton blows, he is not a winner and his record reflects that. Just sayin’

  28. shaztah says:

One last thing before I go home, I read Tim’s book and I think the one mantra he has really fits this situation ” Hard work beats talent if talent don’t work hard” and I dont know about you guys but if someone doesn’t truely love what they are doing they are not going to give their heart and soul to it. I work at a juvenile correction facility and you can always tell who are here just for the paycheck and those who really care to make a difference in a young person’s life. Just saying……

  29. blwalk01 says:

If any of you were Orton, would you care about yourselfs opinion? After being bashed and blamed for every wrong since hes been here? I agree with those who have been on here all the time and for a long time, we’ve heard this crap enough. Ive been a Broncos fan since I was a kid (sometime around ’83) and Ive never seen the kind of bashing that goes on now. I actually like Orton, he makes mistakes but so do 80%-90% of the QBs in the leaugue, hes no Tom Brady or Mike Vick but it could be worse. He doesnt play on the defense, he isnt a RB, and he isnt an OL, we have bigger problems in those areas than we do at QB. Lastly, as far as I can tell, he still has support of his teamates, thats what is important to me, if Champ and Lloyd and others have faith in him, so do I. Thats all Im going to say about that, to much anyway, lol. As far as needing to know about wether Tebow can play, I uderstand that argument. Its a tough position to be in. But, if you look at guys like Phillip Rivers (I think we all know that Pr ick) and guys like Aaron Rodgers we can see that sitting for 2 years doesnt neccasarily hurt a guy. If they wait and give Tebow a chance next year and he sucks, a lot of you dont think he will, I give him 50/50 just not sure he does have the “it” factor, but if he sucks then Im sure there will be more QBs the next year and the next and so on …….. sorry for the long post ….. I just get irritated when people talk crap about the team, we need to support the team not try to divide the team …… GOOD LUCK KYLE ORTON AND BRONCOS GO KICK SOME BENGAL A** ON SUNDAY!!!!

  30. blwalk01 says:

I should have put a coma after the line “I give him 50/50 just not sure, ……. Tebow def does have the “it” factor …….. and when I say talk crap about the “team” I mean the team or any individual on it ….. sorry, just some clarifications …..

  31. stevecan2 says:

as far as the players trusting Orton and backing him.

The lloyd backing flip flop between Tebow and Orton, is more realistic than players backing him for truly believing in him

Listen to what is being said by the players, one game, not a season, etc. They are all pushing the same kool aid. I don’t take it as a true investment in Orton as much as you have to show support to QB1 no matter what.

  32. conan444 says:

I’ll put it like this….. Orton has to go!!!! short and sweet!!!!

  33. bizieman says:

Talk is cheap. Back it up. Let see if Orton gives us the best chance to win with his 11-18 record.
