First let me just say the atmosphere at the stadium was crazy Monday night. I’ve never heard a crowd so loud in my life, and I’ve played in a lot of stadiums. It shows how much the people are behind the Broncos out here.
I enjoyed the pregame a lot. It was a great tribute to all the people who lost their lives in 9/11, and it was great that the whole NFL participated.
As far as the game, we basically hurt ourselves with all the penalties, and the offense not starting fast to help the defense out when they were playing good in the first half. We can’t do stuff like that. We’ve got to get it from the beginning and go from there.
I do think the team came together very well. We didn’t back down or give up on each other. When we were down 16-3, we stayed in it and we fought. That’s a good thing about our team — we didn’t give up.
Looking at next week, right now basically we have a sour taste in our mouths, and we’re trying to put something sweet in our mouths right now. The thing about it is we’ve got to be mentally prepared for this team, because they’re going to try and come in and do the same thing Oakland did against us. We can’t let that happen.
The Bengals get paid just like us. They’re there to make plays. They’re in the NFL for a reason. Those guys are going to try to mess up every play that we put out there, but our job is to not let them do that.
Nobody is happy about starting the season with that loss. But we’re going to be OK. I’m not worried about it. First game of the season, everybody likes to have that win in their first game, but unfortunately things didn’t go our way. The good thing about it is we’ve got 15 more games.
Catch up with you next week.

alex…..I don’t get it bud.
Miss Cleo?
Take a deep breath buddy, you’re on the McGahee blog.
You know, I don’t really get it either. I am just doing it.
Waste of blog space.
lol
bay………do you think EFX are looking ahead to the trade deadline and conjuring up some possibilities or you think they’re just going to ride with what we’ve got for the season. The sad part is that I don’t think we have much in the way of tradable commodities.
Anyway, I’ll go ahead and stop my stupid little game dilatorily.
Nice entry McGahee. Always nice to hear from the players.
Well, if the past tendencies of Fox in this off season are any indications, I would say he is more comfortable going with what he’s got than bringing new guys in late like he siad himself, but a 1-4 start or something like that might change his thinking, but he does seem pretty set in his ways, was that way in Carolina, so odds are I see no big trades regardless, I think trade deadline is October 18.
Sorry you had to come here, Willis. You are a good player, and you deserve to play with a team that actually has heart, determination, will and intelligence. Instead, you wound up here. Get used to 30 rushing yards a week…from the entire offense. Get used to completely inept QB play. And get used to a defense that would rather make a camera pleasing dive than actually wrap up and tackle. And most importantly get used to a coaching staff and front office that couldn’t care less what the fans want or think.
Thanks, it kind of makes us all look like bored little children when you do that.
What you see is what you get and what we saw is what we got.
I get the game at a time. I am glad to see the comment “sour taste” in their. Fans won’t put up with, it was just one game, when it rolls into multiple games. So I hope, the Broncos don’t like that sour taste and turn it around. The loud crowd was an indication that it was a big game. Only thing the team can do is take the sour taste, throw in some mouth wash and brush their teeth with a win in Cincy, or it will only get worse. Good teams, win the games everyone knows they showed, great teams beat the ones they weren’t supposed to and well bad teams, lose the games their supposed to win. One game down and with the next, we shall see, do we have a good team or a bad team.
We don’t have a lot of disposible talent to even deal………so I guess it would come down to draft picks. and I’d hate to see them give up any of those, considering we are still trying to rebuild the shambles McD left us in. So I’m thinking the same……….nothing really major happening for us by the deadline.
Is it just me, or is Goodman plain aweful?
Do you guys think the Colts would want Orton?
J7: You tryin’ to psych out the players?
Debby downer stuff right there.
Free speech and all that stuff, but what is the point of being a fan when you are just spouting negative nonsense?
Maybe it is just an attempt at lower the ante. If you expect all losses, then when we win it is more exciting, and when we lose it is less disappointing.
But isn’t getting pumped up the whole point of being a sports fan. What is the point of coldly and analytically observing even a SB winning team.
I think the coaching staff and front office have done a decent job with wat they have other than the quarterback situation. as Time goes on, we will see improvement on all fronts except for our record for the most part. We are a tough team that played in a rough game to start off the season. I think we had the only bad weather game of the week. Still dont understand how the raiders were able to hold up better than us on our own field.
I can definitely answer that already, we have some good starters but no way we have the backups to be considered a good team, at best we are a medicore team, but even seriously doubt that since we would have to win 8 of the next 15 games to achieve the mediocre level, so we are still a below mediocre team is my point, a bad team of sort, like the 6-10 season record I picked, and that was from the heart, as yours my brain said 5-11. But as they say anything can happen, at least if we win Sunday, if we lose it will take an absolute miracle to get to mediocre status.
Broncos 23
Bengals 13
oranges,
I was thinking the same, but, they had ample opportunity to shop for Orton when he was on the block and went with Kerry Collins. He only has the one year left on contract, so it seemed like a good deal, but they still went with Collins.
After watching McNabb last week, i would think Minn would be interested, Orton is exactly what they said they were looking for, still no dice.
Miami will probably rally around Chad Henne now, so the thought of a Miami trade, not so much in my mind also.
Orton is stuck in Denver whether he likes it or not. Two times asking for a trade, etc. He doesn’t want to be here. His lies in interviews and all that.
Okay
Wait a minute. Just thought of it, Chad Henne made Orton look bad. OMG this is going to be a loooooongggg year.
McGahee, you are being presented with a good opportunity to be an instant star in Denver, I hope you can do it. We need you, badly.
I suppose I will attempt to wait till we actually win a game before I try to spout more orange Koolaid. I will probably fail.
But, cincinatti? Really? You all are expecting that to be a tough game? The Titans with old man Hassleback? The chiefs? dolphins, bills?
Steve,
Good point. I just want him out of Denver it would be a different story if he had a few years on his contract but he doesn’t.
I am predicting a tough game, absolutely. No more, hoping we play to our level, etc. Until proven otherwise. 1 out of 5 wins projected, for a fan like myself looking at such a dismal year, to lose home opener against the Raiders, is still heart breaking. I don’t just have a sour taste in my mouth, I absolutely just let a game crush my spirit.
I mean the raiders … sure. They had the #2 rushing attack last year. McFadden is a beast, as much as I hate to admit it. They are a tough divisional opponent that not only swept us last year but also swept the chargers and the division winners.
But the Bengals? I hope the players aren’t disregarding them the way I am, but really this is a sure win, at least on paper.
McGahee,
thanks for the effort but you did look a bit out of your element on Sunday, why was it that so many of you guys had problems holding on to the ball when the Raiders didn’t, or did it just look that way to me, it was kind of comical at one point when like during 4 or 5 plays three of you guys dropped the ball or something, didn’t look like the right frame of mind there, like concentration was missing, hard to excuse all that, or is it all blamed on bad luck?
The real question is what does it really take for a professional to be up for a game, because many of you guys did not show the effort you are talking about to be frank with you. Us who struggle to make bills and put food on our tables have a problem understanding all that, at least I do. The Packers by example lay it all out every single game they play, everyone of them, does it all go back to coaching? You guys need to still be motivated by coaches like on high school or college teams?
Just wondering, all that has always seriously pertubed me, you men making millions and needing motivation, that’s an unknown concept to me.
a lot of us want him out of here, Himself included. Unfortunately, its not up to the fans or the players so much.
I wander if KO, understands. He has a lot more in common with the fans then he realizes. A mutual dislike, he doesn’t want to be here, we don’t want him here, etc. I feel bad for those that still do want him here, I used to be one of them. I won’t let myself forget, I applauded his arrival in Denver. urggghhh the humanity.
perturbed, I think that’s a verb, haha.
Haha bay, 5 points.
Perturb: To disturb greatly; make uneasy or anxious.
awesome vocab, but i am kind of curious about that run on sentence. hahaha
I second everything you said.
I too echo the sediments of bay’s post………..
Question……….It’s great to have a blog written by a player, but you think McGahee will actually read the responses and respond himself?
@ steve: I think KO very much wants to be here because he knows no other team would pay him like we did, and only about 5 other teams would even consider letting him start.
There is absolutely nothing good about having 15 games, when you are playing at the level all us fans witnessed on Monday night. Everyone keeps saying how Kyle Orton is the best QB Denver has, but I swear, there is NO way Tebow could be any worse than what I saw the other night. And what is up with all the butterfingers fumbling? I think you have plenty to be worried about Magahee.
Alex, did you watch the Monday night game? We are not that good. My 6-10 prediction is looking out of reach at the moment. With injuries, lack of depth, all the drama, etc, etc, etc, I don’t even see us winning against the Bengals.
Bay – my weekly prediction:
Bengals 24
Broncos 16
Moreno still stinks, he`s still got the fumleitus thing going. I don`t like him on our team.
about McGahee, reading and commenting.
I wouldn’t if I were him. I would save that for the off season, or even maybe a bye week. I am just glad that they have players posting at all.
I`ll say this right now, if we lose this sunday against the Bengals we win two games at the most, with Tebow maybe 4 games as a win, I doubt it though.
Since I am on this whole vocab kick today, I have to ask ….
Killerkod: “too echo the sediments of bay’s post.”
Really? You have to echo his sediments?
strand……….I’ve never liked him from day 1 and still don’t.
KO needs to hire a PR person. He fails at communication. The only upside, is that we don’t have to hear 46 uhs and umms in a 4 min interview.
I don’t think he wants to be here but he is taking advantage of it no doubt.
wrog spelling: Fumble-itis. blah
Yeah, they are not gonna go back and forth with the fans, are you kidding me, they would have absolutely zero to gain doing that, they probably would rather get a root canal every day for the rest of their lives, LOL.
So glad to have you on the team Willis! My hubby is a die hard Ravens fan and I bleed orange and blue. I agree 100 percent about the penalties and my only comment is that it is impossible for an offense to get into any kind of rhythm when everytime you gain any kind of yards, you lose them on the next play!
Too much java. I can`t even spell wrong correctly. HaHa!!
We are what we thought we were, SAME OL SAME OL it can only get better from here I hope. :~(
Theotheredge: Yeah I watched the game. We played pretty sloppy. So did they. But at the end of the day, I don’t play the ‘what if game.’
In reality we lost by only 3 points. To the team that handed us not only our worst lost last season, but probably our worst loss in franchise history (i did not research that).
So, imo, other than KO we played a good enough game to get a victory. If even one play turned our better for us, we would have won, or at least taken it into OT.
