A New Year, A New Season

January 1st, 2009 - 5:19pm by Ryan Torain

Well here we are in 2009, and I’m in Kansas with family. It’s good to be here with everyone to start off a new year.

Hope all of you had a good night and started off the year on the right foot.

That’s what I’m hoping to do. This is going to be my last blog — my rookie season is officially over, and since it’s my rookie blog, this is the end of the road. I’ll pass the torch on to another first-year guy next season.

This season for me, as most of you know, was kind of up and down. Shaky, if you will. It started off well in camp, then I go down with my arm, so I go through a bunch of rehab and get back, then my second game back I tear my ACL. So it’s been all about highs and lows.

But in all honesty, just being able to play in the NFL, being able to just be who I am today, I’m very happy with myself. I’m happy with where I am right now, but I’ve also got to keep working hard to get back to the field — I’ve got to get healthy and stay healthy and be able to contribute to the team. I guess you could say that’s one of my New Year’s Resolutions.

If I had to describe the season in one word, it would be rollercoaster. With a lot of big wins and a lot of big losses, your emotions get thrown up and down, so you’ve got to learn how to handle adversity when it comes you way, and you’ve got to come out on top.

Obviously the big development right now is that Coach Shanahan got let go. I appreciate everything he did for me, giving me a chance to show what I can do in the NFL. So coming into next year, we’ll have a new coach. I’ll just say that in terms of having a new coach and a new playbook and all that, it doesn’t affect my mindset in terms of coming into next season too much. I look at it like this — I jumped around with the playbooks and the offense all this season, but I have confidence in myself as a player. I’ve just got to go out and ball out and do what I know I can do. I’ve got to be comfortable with myself, and I feel I am.

To all the fans that stuck with me through everything this season, and especially those of you that have been reading my blog and comment and everything — I appreciate all of you. It’s a new year, 2009, and I appreciate your support — I’ll be back next year and ready to go.

Thanks again and thanks for reading.

-Ryan

hang in there, kid, we need you to step up and be the back we need to take us back into the elite. Stay strong, stay healthy, I am rooting for you!

    … Just change your number… that’s all I ask right now… something in the 20s or 30s…

    Ryan

You’ve had it tough for a couple of years now with injuries. Take ballet lessons to improve your flexibility, tendon strength, and balance. Sounds silly but they work. We need you and at least 7 RBs like you to get through next season. Hopefully, our strength and conditioning staff will be replaced by a more experienced, educated, and committed group.

    All the best for ’09!

Ryan, Have a good off season and keep the rehab going. Hey if you are ever out shopping or eating and you see a one legged fat guy in an electric wheelchair with a Broncos shirt and hat on, Come give me a Mile High FIve.

For next year, I have a feeling that if you are doing right with your rehab you will be just where you need to be to make your opportunity for the starting RB job. I have a feeling Hillis leading you thru the holes will be a major factor in next years crushing runnning attack.

Take care and have fun being with family & friends

Wow, cant anyone ever stay on topic…I know im new here so go ahead and bash me or call me noob or whatever because i really dont care but I have been reading actively on these boards for about the last year and I finally decided to sign up today. This topic is about Ryan Torain. Not about the current coaching situation. Go to general discussions on the boards if you guys wanna bicker about the coaching changes which will be fought over again as soon as they are made known

yo what up Ryan? ready for serious competition from Cory Boyd? I saw him in the SEC last year. hardcore (listed @ only 212lbs) with some sic moves. I think Hillis should be starting FB. No brainer. Great hands out of the backfield+runs hardcore+willing blocker. Hillis is a Gamer. Hope his rehab is going well. Now….should we draft a RB b/n rds 4-7???? or have faith w/our RB’s now???? That’s the big question. I think we pick up Gartrell Johnson (CSU Beast!) or Kory Sheets (Purdue) in the later rds/free agency. Cory (he’s legit)+Ryan+Aldrigde (small but very fast…seen Sproles recently?!) fight it out for top spot. What you guys think? holla. punches n bunches.

yo-how many of you are happy that we dumped Bly?! I know his salary goes against the cap, right? we have to eat that money, but I’m soooo freak’n happy he’s not in orange/blue. disagree gett’n rid of Engleberger+Winborn. Great back-ups. I’m against all the cheerleader antics Winborn after making a tackle, but he was a heady LB. I think the reason was that him+Nolan didn’t get along. I think these are good moves. Let’s GUT this team. Especially on D. Start @ the top=Shanny…work your way down. I’m guess’n @ least 7 new starters on D for the ’09 season. am I right or am I right? I’m stoked. Of course there is going to be growing pains. I can live w/that. As long as the D is runn’n to the ball+uber aggressive then it’s all good. Must start Woodyard. He’s a hungry dog. Larsen has game. I’m for building the team through the draft+not spend’n big money on free agents. Look @ our history! Niko+Manuel+mcCree+Bly+Robertson, etc…all busts…Big Time!!!! Our core O has been through the draft. Clady, Royal, BMarsh, Cutler, Sheff, Harris….time to invoke that philosophy for our D…am I right or am I right???? Go Broncos!!!!! Amped for ’09. punches n bunches
